The Paua and Pink mussel shell encrusted on this piece have been sourced and imported from New Zealand, designed and crafted in Australia. The two shells together bring the Seahorse to life, making it seem life like.

Found along the coast line of New Zealand, pink mussel shell has a refreshingly feminine feel. Known for its soft pink hue and iridescent shimmer, the inner shell exudes an incredibly warm, pleasant demeanor.

Paua is native and unique to the cold deep waters off the North and South Island coast of New Zealand.  It is the cold Antarctic waters that produce the amazing multi-coloured blue, green and purple hues of Paua (pronounced "pah-wah"), making it one of the most beautiful and one of a kind shells in the world. The shell is held in high regard by Maori as a treasure [taonga] from the God of the sea, so it is apt and fitting that it should adorn this fascinating creature of the deep.
