Paua New Zealand

This New Zealand wall art is made of genuine Paua pieces sourced from the small country town of Carterton in the lower North Island, near Wellington and close to my home town.  It includes (as it should) Stewart Island and Great Barrier Island.

Paua is a unique shell found in the deep waters off the North and South Island coast of New Zealand near the Antarctic, these amazing multi-coloured blue, green and purple hues of Paua (pronounced "pah-wah") make it one of the most beautiful and one of a kind shell in the world. 

This piece has a very special place in my heart, not only because it represents my homeland, but because it was one of the first original LadyPaua pieces that I designed and made many years ago. I loved coming up with new and creative ideas for gift giving at Christmas and Birthdays to give to my in-laws and Whanau (family). Ideas and gifts that weren't bought, but were made by hand with a lot of Aroha (love) and given from the heart.
