This piece is a two tone design, made of individual genuine Pink Mussel shell and Paua, sourced and imported from New Zealand. This stunning hand crafted New Zealand Heartland wall design is a one of a kind LadyPaua piece. 

Found along the coast line of New Zealand, pink mussel shell has a refreshingly feminine feel. Known for its soft pink hue and iridescent shimmer, the inner shell exudes an incredibly warm, pleasant demeanor.

Paua is native and unique to the cold deep waters off the North and South Island coast of New Zealand. It is the cold Antarctic waters that produce the amazing multi-coloured blue, green and purple hues of Paua (pronounced "pah-wah"), making it one of the most beautiful and one of a kind shells in the world. 

The shell is held in high regard by Māori as a treasure [taonga] from the God of the sea. Paua eyes were used in Māori carvings because they reflected the light at night, which made the carvings more life like, and people felt they were being looked over when they slept at night.
